Washington [US], Jun 15 (ANI): Microsoft has started working on integrating online games into its Microsoft Teams service. The software maker has started testing games like Solitaire, Connect 4 and Wordament in Microsoft Teams, according to people familiar with Microsoft’s plans.
Casual games are designed for colleagues to play against each other in meetings. Microsoft clearly seems to be looking at games as another way to improve the meeting experience as companies continue to balance the needs of hybrid and remote working, The Verge reported.
Microsoft currently only tests casual games internally from its casual games offering, and the company may choose not to roll out this integration to consumers and businesses.
Asked for comment, Microsoft declined to comment on its testing of games within Microsoft Teams, according to reports from The Verge.
In addition to testing casual games on Teams, Microsoft is also exploring virtual spaces within Teams where colleagues can network and socialize together with games. These virtual spaces are part of Microsoft’s larger metaverse plan, and the company has previously detailed its ambitions for the expected 3D avatars and immersive meetings, which are set to arrive with Microsoft Teams this year.
Microsoft had also added functionality to Teams with remote work. “Together Mode” was one of the first additions during the pandemic, nearly two years ago. Microsoft Teams has also been updated with remotely accessible views and features and mobile enhancements. (ANI)
