McKay pleaded guilty yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court for possession of indecent images of children.
The court heard officers raiding the home of McKay’s parents after a warrant was granted.
Prosecutor Carrie Stevens said: “Following a search, an iPhone found on McKay was seized.
“A preliminary examination of it included images of child exploitation.”
McKay was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Ms Stevens added: “He told officers he has a learning disability and said he was not a pedophile at the time of his arrest.
A full examination revealed the total number of images – 163 of which were in the highest category.
Ms Stevens said: “707 of the footage was the exploitation of children between the ages of one and 15.
“They were accessible from the device.”
Sentencing has been deferred until January for substantive reports pending substantive reports from Sheriff Matthew Jackson QC.
McKay was entered on the sex offender registry and has been released on bail in the meantime.
