Yes, Microsoft Rewards is amazing, but only in certain regions

We’ve been known to be lyrical about Microsoft Rewards here on Pure Xbox, and for good reason. The program allows you to rack up an incredible amount of Xbox Credits (or whatever you want) to perform Bing searches, earn achievements, complete Xbox Game Pass quests and more, so it’s pretty much a obvious in our opinion.

There is a big caveat to this though – it all depends on where you live. As of now, Microsoft Rewards is only available in around 20 countries, and beyond that there are also issues with MS Rewards prices being region-locked even though they are visible. Jez Corden of Windows Central recently pointed this out, with many disgruntled responses:

“Still not in Austria. And we are linked to @XboxDACH which is Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We get all the great promotions and see the reward quests and challenges they always get but can not access it.”

“The stupid thing is that the MS Rewards balance in the Game Pass app is still showing in countries that can’t use it. The UI element is visible but if you click on it, it will give you an error. Lack of attention to detail in some MS products drives me crazy.”

There are some weird rules/regulations about non-cashback based rewards programs. Since points and other non-tangible items are non-transferable or have no cash value to redeem, here are some of the issues my former employer had before launching their loyalty program.

We’ve consistently heard from Pure Xbox members over the past two years that certain Microsoft Rewards punch cards, promotions, and sweepstakes aren’t available in their region, which is a real shame.

Hopefully Microsoft will be able to bring the feature to more regions over the next few years, but it looks like there are quite a few hurdles in place that could prevent it, so we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for us.

Are you affected by region-specific Microsoft Rewards issues? Tell us in the comments.
