COPAN Hummingbird™ unlike any other instrument in microbiology. It automatically selects isolated colonies for further analysis and investigation. Colonies are designated by the lab technologist or automatically by COPAN’s advanced AI, PhenoMATRIX® LABEL. Humming-bird™ works with both VITEK® MS MALDI-TOF and Bruker Biotyper® Seeding systems for target plate formats from both manufacturers, automatically applying the matrix and through a software interface, sending instructions and coordinates identifying each individual culture processing point. The precision robotics of the WASPLab complete laboratory automation system® combined with Colibri™ help eliminate any transposition errors. Humming-bird™ can also inoculate colonies in tubes or bottles of different sizes to prepare McFarland suspensions for antibiotic susceptibility tests (AST) * verifying the opacity of the suspensions using the on-board nephelometer. The system applies barcode labels to the tubes and prepares purity check plates from these suspensions.
